Never heard of Rod Gilbert but it's happened to me not once, but twice.
The first time was an old man who genuinely didn't seem to know you could make mash from potatoes & the second time was fairly recently when a woman with a child asked me for "Organic Mashed Potatoes". I told her we didn't sell them but we had organic potatoes. She was the one who said "I don't need organic potatoes, I need organic mashed potatoes." When I pointed out you could make mash from the organic potatoes she said to her kid "This man is the reason you're not eating mash potatoes tonight" and stormed off :i am genuinely amused:
