Very good summary of a lengthy listen that went nowhere
My summary
Want to run the club for their own profit (sustainable business model)
Retractable seating and corporate boxes to be installed
Want to make money out of the wider Olympic Park by running the stadium (not owning, running)
Beard laid out Brentford as a model - owner has lost £200m and sells best players every season.
Whilst generally agreeing that Beard made a complete pig's ear of his "presentation", Leicester are often held up as a well run club. Yei their model tends to involve the sale of their major assets most seasons. Kante, Mahrez, Maguire, Chilwell being four who immediately come to mind.
Not a problem if you have a decent recruitment process in place, which Leicester obviously do, to replace those who leave.
This only works if what you bring in is at worst, equal and preferably better than what you move on. Otherwise you get worse as a team. Kante and Mahrez left a title winning side that has not qualified for the Champions League since they left. Chilwell was a youth product of the Glen Johnson ilk.
Southampton used to be the same beacon of hope for a sustainable model - they continually sold and are now shit. Arsenal tried to run sustainably. They are a laughing stock compared to where they used to be.
You need to have a great structure from top to bottom. Training, scouting, recruitment, academy, coaching, business management and deep pockets to get through tough times.
We have 2 porn barons who have decided to stop investing and zero clue on how to monetise infrastructure, a rented stadium, a shit training ground and less scouts than Bear Grylls.
We have a manager who knows how to set up a side and when everyone buys in he gets results. He needs a bit of fucking support from the 2 clowns with deep pockets and short arms.
