If as expected Pellegrini is announced as our new manager I hope he gets straight to recruiting the right players for next season. With a lot of players in Russia for the summer I think we should get straight to work with a statement signing that will not be going to the world cup.

We lack mobility in the centre of midfield so much we play walking football at times. Jack Wilshire would be my number one target but with a new manager incoming at the emirates also I think we need to make him a big offer and very early. He has his share of injuries but the last 2 seasons haven’t been too bad and he is of such quality that for him I’d be happy to take the risk. He would bring a lot to the midfield that we don’t have, he can play the game the right way but he has the strength and fight in him to not be rolled over and pushed out the game. We have players that don’t even need to be pushed out the game they just fall out in this role at the moment so he would be a massive upgrade in that respect.

He doesn’t fly in to challenges the way he used to but that is natural due to the severity of some of his injuries, but he has the intelligence to adapt his game and his game time over the last 2 seasons hasn’t been too bad. On loan at Bournemouth he played 27 games and last season while not being a regular started he played 20 games. We have got a good few players that I don’t think are hitting those numbers so although it’s something to be cautious about I think he is a calculated risk provided we don’t put all our eggs in one basket and offer him a ludicrous wage and end up restricting the ability to sign other players significantly.

Ordinarily I wouldn’t expect to be able to sign a player of his quality but the fact he has been in and out of Arsenal for a while now hopefully he has decided he would be ready to move on should the right opportunity come along. We all know he was a West Ham fan as a boy so I would hope that would make us a more attractive proposition than another similarly placed club, he also wouldn’t be leaving London so that could also work in our favour.

As well as his physical qualities where I would really love to see him would be running from deep and playing those one twos with the likes of Lanzini and Arnie. At the moment our holding midfielders are functional but not too pretty to watch ordinarily, he would add that bit of quality in an area that we lack it and hopefully it would become a lot more enjoyable to watch because to be brutally honest a lot of this season has been terrible to watch with only the odd flash of entertainment. A lot of the time I go because I have too, I can’t not go! It drives me mad, but it would be nice to enjoy it a bit more often too!

Would you take him or does his injury history put you off? Or is he simply not the type of player you think we should be prioritising? Let me know your opinion!!
