A great win against Watford on Friday night along with favourable results elsewhere this weekend means that West Ham will avoid relegation and play in the Premier League for the 2020/21 season.
Three goals in a glorious opening thirty six minutes sealed the three points for the Hammers and such was Watford’s pain they almost immediately decided to sack manager Nigel Pearson.
The upcoming clash on Wednesday with Manchester United still has plenty at stake though as David Moyes returns to his former club and he will be absolutely determined that his team will put in a strong performance. The bookies don’t really rate our chances of success however with Betvictor quoting the best odds of 12/1 for the away win.
With the pressure now relieved for West Ham it would be great to see a solid defensive display to reinforce the progress of recent weeks where the team have shown that they are capable of scoring goals with twelve goals coming in the last five games.
All the pressure is on Man Utd as they strive for a Top Four position and the coveted Champions League positions. United’s cause has certainly been helped by Leicester’s appalling loss of form but nevertheless they need a win to ensure that they have their fate in their own hands going into the final games of the season next weekend.
Aston Villa provide the Hammers opposition at the London Stadium for the season finale and the Villains will most likely be relegated to the Championship by then.
It is very possible therefore that the run of high scoring games could continue and West Ham’s season can still end on a very positive note.
