Josh Cullen returns to West Ham off the back of an excellent loan spell as he helped Charlton Athletic gain promotion to the Championship, but where does his future lie?
The Irish international has been with the club since the age of nine, making a total of three appearances for the Hammers and has been on loan with three different clubs. He first went out on loan to Bradford City in the 16/17 season and made a total of 55 appearances, scoring just one goal.
He was then loaned out to Bolton Wanderers in the 17/18 season, this time making just 12 appearances but did not score a goal. Most recently he was on loan at Charlton Athletic, making 29 appearances but also only scoring just one goal.
He’s also represented England U16s once before switching allegiance to Republic of Ireland, going on to make three appearances for the U19s before making 14 appearances for the U21s.
Now the question is, does he deserve to stay with the club and get a chance next season?
In my opinion, I think he is another one just like Grady Diangana. He is highly regarded by the club and one for the future, but with the squad we have now, is he going to be played ahead of the current batch of players? I don’t think he will, unless there is a dramatic injury crisis.
With his contract due to run out on June 30, he is set to leave the club. However, should he be offered a new contract?
