Summer Shopping List, But from Waitrose or Aldi – By DazP

Really not sure which way our season will end now, relegation or staying up by the skin of our teeth.

But whatever way it ends we will need to replace a large number of players and replace them with the level needed for that division.

Do we need to replace the same players regardless of the division we find ourselves in?

The West Ham website shows a senior squad of 22 players excluding the 2 players currently loaned out, Snodgrass and Oxford.

Plus 2 youth players in Haksabanovic and Quina

I have gone through all the remaining players and against both playing possibilities for next season added whether I believe we should:-

Keep the player or replace him.

Or whether I think the player will go anyway

My assumptions being if we stay up, Moyes will be the Manager and if we are relegated his contract will be ended.

As you see a number of players I believe will go either way, Lanzini, Hernandes, Oxford Snodgrass.

Oxford and Snodgrass are a given, no way do they want to play for West Ham.

Hernandes will leave if Moyes stays as Manager and I really feel that Lanzini will want to move on in the summer.

If we get relegated, then Ogbonna & Arnautovic can also be added to this list.

In terms of players that I believe we should replace,

Hart, Reid, Evra, Kouyate, Mario, Carroll – this is regardless of the division we play in.

Hart – Not good enough and wages too high

Reid – Too injury prone and past his best

Kouyate – Been poor for 2 seasons

Mario – Not seen enough from him but may be a replacement for Lanzini at the right price for the Premier League?

Carroll – Waste of time

I would keep Obiang and Hugill if we get relegated but replace them if we stay in the premier league.

And let Zabaleta go if we get relegated.

Players to keep either way

Adrian – Although he may only be our number 1 in the championship.

Collins – Squad Player

Rice – Should be around for a number of years

Cresswell

Byram – Although he needs to show improvement for the Premier League

Masuaku – Just because of how many players we will need to bring in

Noble – But more of a squad player in the Premier League

Fernandes – Youth

Antonio – Although I think he may also want to leave after this season

Either way though we would need around 12 players brought in during the summer window.

How will we achieve this? I have no idea.

If we stay up, then I would also question the desire of our board to spend the money to get the right signings.

40-60 million mentioned would be nowhere near enough.

If we get relegated, then a whole different set of questions get asked of them.

1         Off loading the top earners whilst keeping players to help us bounce back.

2         Bringing in players who know the division and can do a job.

3         We would probably need to find a manager first.

Relegation would be a disaster for the whole club but one in my opinion that would be mainly down to the lack of investment and gambling by the board.
