Former Lazio winger Felipe Anderson has finally sealed his move to London, today signing for a fee of around £42m, smashing our record transfer fee in the process.

This long and winded transfer feels like it has taken a decade to complete, but we can finally say that Anderson is a Hammer, and this truly is a signing to get excited about.

With deals already completed for the likes of Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko, Anderson has furthermore bolstered our attacking options, and we appear to finally be heading in the right direction.

If you are not familiar with Anderson and what he can bring to the side, you can watch this video which shows the quality of player we now have on our hands:

Anderson is a versatile attacking player, in the sense that he can play either side of midfield or even through the middle.

He is 25 years old, meaning he will be reaching his peak in the next couple of years, and with the quality he already possesses, this brings real excitement as to what he can produce in claret and blue.

To be successful at West Ham, you do not have to be the most talented player in the world, but you must work hard. However, Anderson is a hard worker, but has the talent to comply with it, which I think will make him a fan favourite very quickly.

He likes to dribble and run at defences, and has the pace to do so very successfully. His passing is excellent, which means in the final third, he should produce the quality we have been lacking in recent years to really push on up the table next season.

This, in my opinion, is the most exciting transfer in my recollection of being a West Ham fan. Although Payet went on to do incredible things at this football club, I was never aware of the talent he had before joining, but with Anderson it is different.

Do not underestimate how incredible this signing is for West Ham. With this now complete, we have spent close to £100m this transfer window, and the Board deserve credit where it’s due.

It will be interesting to see how much more activity there is this transfer window, but every Hammers fan can be over the moon with today’s signing!

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
