Marko Arnautovic has handed in a transfer request to West Ham United after receiving an offer from an unnamed Chinese club, according to Sky Sports.

The 30-year-old came close to leaving East London for China last January, before extending his current contract with the Hammers.

His form dipped during the second half of the season, and the Austrian never rediscovered the same level of play that made him so popular at London Stadium, despite reassuring the fans that he wanted to stay.

With reports suggesting that West Ham target Maxi Gómez is close to joining La Liga side Valencia, this leaves Hammers’ boss Manuel Pellegrini short changed up front heading into pre-season as the squad have touched down in Switzerland for an 11 day training camp.
