Pablo Fornals scored the opening goal for Spain U21’s in their 5-0 thrashing of Poland U21’s as they topped the group to advance to the knockout stages of the U21 European Championships.

The Spaniard joined the Hammers from Villarreal for £22.5m and this competition has been a chance for the West Ham fans to see the midfielder in action – and they would be impressed so far.

Fornals came off the bench in Spain’s last match to score an 89th minute winner and was granted his first start of the tournament against Poland last night.

It didn’t take long for the new West Ham signing to get his second goal of the tournament. A ball was played across the face of goal and Fornals was there to stretch his leg out and convert from six yards out.

Spain continued to dominate the match, with Fornals and another West Ham target, Dani Ceballos, running the midfield and constantly creating chances.

Fornals completed the full 90 minutes as Spain ran out as 5-0 winners, and they will now advance into the knockout rounds.

Overall, Fornals put in a great performance and the scoreline reflected what happens when you play the Spaniard from the beginning.

It is an exciting signing for the Hammers, and one to keep a close eye on as the tournament progresses.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
