Yesterday, Monday, was Manuel Pellegriniā€™s first official day in charge, and the Hammers begin their 12-day intensive training camp in the Swiss Alps.

The squad met up yesterday morning at Rush Green to undergo a series of medical tests before flying out to begin pre-season, and for many it is a chance to impress the new manager.

Our first pre-season match is against FC Winterthur on Sunday 8th July, and it will be interesting to see how Pellegrini sets up his side to begin with.

Not only is it a chance for us as fans to see what Pellegriniā€™s play-style is like, it is certainly a chance for some of the youngsters to make an impression on the boss.

However, with the additions of the likes of Issa Diop, current players such as Angelo Ogbonna will be keen to fight for their place and demonstrate their worth in the team.

There are going to be several double training sessions carried out throughout the time in Switzerland, and Pellegrini is keen to get the squad ready for the start of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Head of Medical Richard Collinge monitored the tests at Rush Green this morning, and admits there is a good feel to proceedings. He stated: ā€œI have to say itā€™s very impressive so farā€

Everything about the club at the moment feels like a fresh start, a new beginning to an era under an excellent manager.

This trip to Switzerland isnā€™t just about gaining fitness, it is also a chance for the squad to bond and integrate ahead of next season, which is just as important as the physical benefits.

Pre-season results are never an indication of how the season will go, so donā€™t be too concerned if the results arenā€™t amazing.

It feels good for West Ham to be back again, and the future looks exciting to say the least.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender šŸ˜¬
