West Ham have triggered the £13m release clause for Eibar defensive midfielder Joan Jordan.

The 24-year-old was a target identified by Mario Husillos and would again add quality to the Hammers’ outfit.

Manuel Pellegrini is looking to get his transfer business done early in this window, and has also today had a £29m bid accepted for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, but faces stern competition from Valencia to capture that signature.

Jordan is now free to begin negotiations with West Ham over a contract, and it is up to him whether he wants to move overseas to east London to play at London Stadium next season.

If the talks go smoothly, Jordan could become the fourth signing of the summer for the Hammers and it would be a real statement of intent from West Ham ahead of the forthcoming season.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
