West Ham are closing in on a deal for Arsenal forward Lucas Perez; a fee rumoured to be in the region of £4m.

Perez, who can play as a striker or out wide, has been a summer target for the Hammers and for £4m seems to be a bargain.

The Arsenal striker has found life difficult at the Emirates, finding his first-team opportunities limited since his arrival from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016.

Perez went out on loan to Deportivo last season, scoring eight goals in 35 appearances for the Spanish side.

You can watch highlights of Lucas Perez in action here –

The Spanish striker looks a real threat when an opportunity arises in front of goal, and his clinical nature will benefit the Hammers should he join.

He is also very dangerous from set plays, which gives you an extra dimension from his game to utilise.

The fact Lucas is being allowed to leave is a bit of a strange one, as it was understood that new boss Unai Emery was a fan of the Spaniard but has barely been utilised at all this pre-season.

The 29-year-old looks set to join the Hammers for £4m, and again this would be an excellent signing, bolstering the squad depth of Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The ever reliable ExWHUemployee has spoken about this potential transfer. He said: “He is someone Manuel Pellegrini has liked before.

“Final terms are being discussed and does also depend on Bernard movement too.”

It looks as if it will be either Bernard or Perez joining the Hammers, but either would be an excellent coup for Manuel Pellegrini.

Deadline day is rapidly approaching, so any deals that are to be done, need to be completed quickly.

Make sure to keep a close eye on this, as it could be completed within the next 48 hours.

West Ham fan for as long as I can remember. I was flukey enough to watch The Irons beat Bury 10-0 in my first ever game . . . True to form, West Ham then went out and signed their central defender 😬
